SPL - MODEL 9530 TUBE VITALIZER - PATTENTED ENHANCER, MASTERING VERSION, STEREO The Tube Vitalizer is the top-of-the-line in the Vitalizer family from SPL. To implement the Vitalizer program EQ in a technically optimal way, a combination of tube, coil, transistor and semiconductor technology was created which comprehensively exploits the advantages of the individual sound features of these components and which can be individually configured to best suit the task (switchable RC or LC filter, tubes or semiconductor output stage). The tube output stage is based on a three-tube circuit where the stereo signal is processed via the two halves of the third tube to provide more natural stereo imaging. Attenuator controls may be used to reduce any level increases caused by prior processing. Only selected top quality components are used throughout to achieve technical perfection. The best ALPS potentiometers turn like spoons in honey while two stylish VU meters show the input and output levels. The Tube Vitalizer allows you to enhance the finest details of the audio signal right across the audio spectrum, yet is much simpler to use and far more effective than traditional equaliser designs. It meets the highest standards in every way in the professional sound studio and in mastering; For mixing, it is effective both in single channel and subgroup processing as well as for whole mixes. A further popular application is in restoring old recordings - the Tube Vitalizer makes remastering a joy. Operation The Tube Vitalizer is divided into two sections: the vitalizer stage and the tube stage. Actuation of the Vitalizer stage is determined by the drive control, with the other control functions including bass and top-end compressor, bass sound control (Soft/hard), mid- and high-frequency control as well as separate controllers for setting the process intensity for the bass and mid-range and for the high-frequency range. Depending on the requirements, the bass and high-frequency filters in the vitalizer stage can be operated selectively with RC of LC filters. The switchable tube stage is based on a 3-tube circuit in which the stereo signal passes through the third tube again, enhancing the spatial impression. Separate attenuators, for the two output channels are used to select between attenuation or limiting, allowing any level increase caused by the preceding vitalizer processing to be corrected. Applications In the professional recording studio and in mastering applications the Tube Vtalizer meets the highest demands - from single channel processing to fine tuning complete mixes and many of these models are used for high-end restoration work.
