NEVE - 1081 R

1081R - REMOTE MICROPHONE RACK

Introduction
Neve 1081R remote mic amp rack meets the professional demand for high class front end microphone pre-amplifiers. The legendary Neve sound can be delivered from a choice of classic pre-amps in a remote controlled rack.

Up to twelve mic pre amp modules can be installed in a rack and controlled manually from the front panel, from a PC or from and AMS Neve console. For those using the 1081R with a Neve console the rack interfaces directly with AMS Neve's EncoreTM Automation computer and console surfaces, giving engineers total control over the mic amplifiers from the console.

The 1081R rack can be positioned in the recording area, optimising sound quality by shortening the cable run from mic to pre amp. the rack's low impedance outputs enable it to be positioned a considerable distance from the console or recorder provided appropriate wiring is installed.

Modules
Three types of microphone pre-amplifier module are currently available, the Air Monserrat mic amp taken from the famous late 70's desk of that name, identified by the blue knob, the classic 1081 from the early 70's identified by the marron knob and the vintage 1073 identified by the grey knob.

The revered 1073 mic amp is the latest to be added to the 88R remote mic amp range. The 1073 is a discrete Class A design with a very warm but precise sound. It has a thirty year heritage as a mic pre renowned for its particularly fine sound on vocals and guitars. This complements the Air's fabulous reputation as an orchestral recording mic pre and the 1081's heritage as the classic mic pre of choice for drums and percussion.

The modules can be fitted in any combination required up to the maximum of twelve slots per rack. Each 1081 or Air module requires one slot, each 1073 module requires two slots.

Manual control
All the mic pre's can be controlled manually from the front panel. Controls include Gain, Phase, Phantom and 20dB Pad. The gain is on a continuous movement controller with a range from 20dB to 70dB.

PC control
Neve's Remote Mic Amp Software may be installed on a PC to provide remote control of the pre amps in the 1081R rack. All of the controls accessible manually can be accessed from the PC via a 9 pin connection. Settings can be stored and recalled. Multiple mic pre racks can be controlled from a single PC.

EncoreTM Control
The remote mic aplifiers can be individually assigned to 88R channel strips for control using the channel selector, or they can be controlled directly from the screen which displays their settings. The mic amp settings can be saved and recalled independently of the console's recall system.
